Bartolomeo Gatto born in Moio della Civitella (Salerno), a small town of Cilento, on 25 August.

1953
Leave Cilento. Gatto graduates from the Istituto d'Arte Superiore in Rome, where he has
studied scenography and poster design.

1957
He has a part in the movie "La sete" (Thirst) directed by Adriano Cavallo.

1959
Travels throughout London and Frankfurt, where he is deeply impressed by German expressionism.

1962
He attends painting courses at the Accademia in Venice, where he meets Virgilio Guidi and Emilio Vedova. During the same period he has his first solo exhibition at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno

1963
After studying at the Accademia. di Brera in Milan, he opens the gallery space "Il Cigno", which becomes a meeting point for intellectuals of that period.

1969
He is awarded the "Les Artes en Europe" prize, in Brussels. He meets Salvador Dalì in Madrid, and frequently meets Giorgio De Chirico in Milan


1970
First publication of art periodical "Il Cigno". Birth of his daughter Carla, followed by Davide in 1972, both of whom will inspire the "Children cycle" art works


1971
Exhibition in Munich, Oldenburg, Vienna, Geneva and Nuremberg, organized by Luis Pollhammer.

1973
Exhibition at Société Industrielle in Molhouse.

1975
"Dimensione G", first exhibition on the theme of ecology, on view in Basel, Rome, Milan, and Düsserldorf. He participates to "Kunstmesse" in Basel.

1978
While visiting Sardinia he is struck by the beauty of the place, which will inspire many of his future works.

1982
Exhibition - "Gatto azzurro" at Il Castello gallery in Milan.

1984
Exhibition -- "Un sogno di pietra" at Palazzo di Città in Salerno, and then at the gallery "L'Isola" in Milan, Eboli and Porto Cervo.
